Healthier Food Choices Made Easy†
Today it seems everyone is trying to eat healthier and live a more active lifestyle, but with all the food options available it can sometimes be confusing to know what to choose. Luckily, we have Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating1, which provides a simple guide for choosing the foods you need to have a nutritious, balanced diet.
The best thing about eating healthy, rather than following the latest fad diet, is that a healthy diet does not restrict any food or food group - it's all about choice and balance. According to Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating, there are better choices you can make more often to eat healthier:

Grain Product: choose whole grain and enriched products and cereals |

Vegetables: choose dark green and orange vegetables and orange fruit |

Milk Products: choose lower-fat milk and dairy products |

Meat and Alternatives: choose fish, lean meats and poultry as well as dried peas, beans and lentils |
Products belonging to the Other Foods Group tend to be higher in fat and less nutritious, but can also fit into a healthy lifestyle when they are enjoyed in moderation.
It's easy to get into the habit of eating better. One great way to start is to add more fish to your diet. Fish is an excellent source of protein, vitamins, minerals and heart healthy Omega-3 fats. In fact, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation recommends eating 2-3 servings of fish a week. With all the delicious varieties of fish available, and the virtually endless ways of preparing it, adding more fish to your diet is a simple, and delicious, way to start making healthier food choices.
